BIO:

Hi I’m Muschu!  I am one gorgeous handsome catch for sure. I love to be petted,  lay on my back for belly rubs and be brushed.  I have these adorable little golden tufts of fur by all my feet and sometimes it tickles when my foster mom brushes them.  Even though I am 10, you wouldn’t even know it-  I don’t have a single spot of gray and I’ve got a cute little spring in my step. I had my teeth cleaned and they took out a few and WOW do I feel better now! I like being a dog, I get to lie in the sun, sleep in the big bed when I want to go for walks and just be loved on.

Muschu has come a long way.  He was a former breeder dog and very shy when he first came to rescue.  He hid behind the couch for the first 3 days and seemed very frightened.  When he finally did come out he was pretty confused.  There is a doggy ramp from the patio to the back yard and he was afraid of it- so I carried him down to the yard to do his business and then he would scamper back up. After a few days he finally got the hang of it and started going down the ramp by himself.

Another thing was playtime- Muschu didn’t play at all. He would just lay on his pillow and watch. Then one day after a few weeks -  he started playing with the other dogs-  it was so cute and such a wonderful breakthrough. He later went out on the patio and started palying woth a small stuffed Snoopy toy. Now he likes little fuzzy toys and the nylabone as well. Muschu is still very quiet-  he will only bark if there really is a reason to. He is housetrained on a schedule and no trouble at all.  When we leave he goes right in his crate without a fuss and you never hear a peep out of him. Muschu would love to have a home where he can be pet and loved for hours on end as well as a fenced yard for him to explore and just be a dog. Is that your home?

More about Muschu...CA

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
