BIO:

VIOLET came from a breeder that decided it was time to retire her and send her on to a forever home. VIOLET is very shy at first but given time she does warm up and becomes very friendly, she just doesn’t like you hovering over her but if you sit down she will come to you. She gets along with male and female dogs so a home with 1 or 2 other dachshunds would be great so she could learn to be a pet and how to be spoiled. She also deserves a fenced in yard so she can stroll outside when she wants. She will let you know when she needs to go out but also uses the doggie door. We say no kids because we think they would make her too nervous with running and screaming. Cats we don’t know about. VIOLET is looking for the right forever home that will give her the love and attention she needs to know that she is to be spoiled, is that your kind of home??

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.

If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $35 fee for the Health Certificate required. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo.  Please Read Before You Adopt to learn more about transportation options.  If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and Fill Out an Application.

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
