AUGGIE
is a VERY cute little boy that was found as a stray. How anybody could let this sweet boy out of their sight is beyond our imagination, but we're glad to have him in rescue and are looking for a forever home that will love and protect this special boy forever! Auggie is VERY FRIENDLY--doesn't meet a stranger and meets everybody with his tail wagging. He's happy and was comfortable in his foster home immediately. He enjoys playing with his foster brothers and sisters and found the toy bin and helped himself to a toy and has been playing, napping, eating, and playing in the yard. Auggie has asked to go out to potty, but he's also had a few accidents. So be aware that he'll need a little positive reinforcement with housetraining to ensure a well mannered boy and he have a few accidents until he learns the routine. But, Auggie is smart, learns quickly, and wants to please his people.

Auggie has been kid tested with children over 8 and will be find with kids that know how to treat a small dog respectfully. He's got a great temperament, but only weighs 9 pounds and doesn't need to go to a home with small children that could accidently hurt him. He has not been cat tested. Auggie sleeps in the bedroom with his foster family in his crate--he barks a minute and with gentle scolding, settles down nicely and sleeps the night away.

If you're looking for a friendly, happy, and HANDSOME young dachshund, you will not be disappointed with Auggie. He's ready to put a smile on your face and warm your heart and home for many years to come. If you have questions or would like more pictures, email his foster mom, Stephanie: smburmei@comcast.net

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.

If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $35 fee for the Health Certificate required. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo.  Please Read Before You Adopt to learn more about transportation options.  If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and Fill Out an Application.

More about AUGGIE...TX second time round

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
