Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteer that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well for now please look for dogs on your coast.
Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

BIO: I sure love this little miracle guy. He has had a horrible life up until now, and he deserves to feel safe and be protected and loved. His perfect home would be with a female who is looking for a faithful companion, and who can give him nurturing and help him trust again.
Ollie was a breeder dog, and was subjected to terrible abuse. He has a large scar going down his back that occurred when a hot liquid was poured on him. He was dumped at a shelter along with several other dogs when the breeder decided to get rid of them. All he had ever known was cruelty. He was rescued by AADR, and just when he was learning that not all people are bad, he got away from his previous foster mom and was hit by a car! You can imagine how devastated everyone was when the doctor said his back was broken.
By some miracle, he not only lived but he retained full use of his legs .He did not have to have surgery, but he will always have a knot on his back where the disc is ruptured. Ollie has been recuperating for a couple of months now. At first, he wasn’t allowed to play with our five-month-old puppy, which was a challenge because he wants to play all the time. He has also discovered toys and will run around with them in his mouth squeaking them until you take them away. Now he a joyous dog and will bounce around on his long legs with his ears blowing in the wind. He is making up for all the time he spent locked in a cage wondering when he would be hurt again. He loves life, and can do everything other dogs can do, but because of his back injury he will always need to stay away from activities that put strain on a dog’s back, such as climbing stairs or jumping off the couch. For that reason, he is considered a special needs dog.
Unfortunately, Ollie has not recovered emotionally as well as he has physically. He is terrified of men and will run and hide when a man is around. He will need to be adopted by a female and he will need a home where there is not a lot of activity and noise because he startles easily. He has bonded to his foster mom and follows her everywhere. She feels like she has a little furry toddler.. He wants to give and receive love, love, and more love. He stares at you with adoration, and you can tell he grateful he doesn’t have to live in a puppy mill anymore. He rolls over and expects a belly rub or a nuzzle every time you sit down. (and he usually gets it!) .He delights in being told what a good boy and a handsome man he is. He is living the life that he deserved all along, The only problem is that when his foster dad comes home, he becomes scared and runs and hides until bedtime, when he jumps up and wants to nestle under your arm in the big bed. If you roll over away from him, he’ll either put his head on your neck or put his paws around your neck because he feels safe that way. He is a real snuggle bunny!
He is also a clown, and about as graceful as a newborn giraffe! Sometimes watching him is like a Three Stooges rerun. If that doesn’t make you laugh, he’ll lick your feet .You can’t help but love him, and he doesn’t have a mean or aggressive bone in his body. He likes other dogs and would enjoy having a friend to play with. His puppy friend got adopted and he misses him. He really wants to chase the cat but will stop when told. He goes out the dog door to potty and rarely has accidents in the house. Can you give him a home with lots of love where he doesn’t have to be afraid anymore?
