BIO:

Sadie Kaye must have a fenced in yard she is not leash trained....

SADIE KAYE came from a breeder that decided it was time to retire her. She is very timid and will take some time to warm up to her family. Once she does then she will follow you everywhere. You will need to give her her space and let her come to you that's why it's advisable to have a doggie door for her to come and go as she pleases until she is completely used to her new family. She is fine with both the foster mom and foster dad but no children we think they would make her too nervous and she would probably snap. She gets along fine with the other dogs and sleeps in a crate at night but is wanting to get in the big bed with the other dogs that are allowed there so she is learning what being a pet is all about and she likes what she sees. Whoever adopts her will need to continue to bring her out of her shell. Once she does she'll make someone a wonderful pet, very loving. Please understand that she will not be an easy adoption at first but if you are up to the challenge of winning her over then she's the girl for you. She is completely crate trained and could be left in a crate while you are at work.

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.

If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $35 fee for the Health Certificate required. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.
If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above. We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. Please Read Before You Adopt to learn more about transportation options. If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and Fill Out an Application.

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
