BIO:  Ollie was first sold on Craigslist for $15 to a soldier on a nearby base.  He was about to dump Ollie at the local shelter because he was being deployed (a story which I doubt), and when I picked Ollie up he weighed under 5 pounds and was very, very ill with worms and other gastrional issues.  Our vet said he may have had a week or less left.  He stayed the weekend getting de-wormed, liquids, and massive antibiotics.

He now weighs about 10 pounds (he has a little pot belly…so cute!) and is totally healthy.  He loves to play tug, bounce around the yard, and tummy rubs.  He loves to sleep in the big bed, and he’s a very polite bed buddy.  He wrestles with our mini-dachshund and just adores her, so he would be excellent with another dog or two around his size, but he’d also be tickled to be the only dog.  He’s not picky, but just needs love, a warm bed, and some tummy rubs.

Because he was so neglected, he has to bald spots on his back legs, but other than that his black, long-hair coat is gorgeous.  His face reminds me of a Wookie from Star Wars.  He will be yours forever if you just rub him softly with a glove brush (they have the little nubs on the palm).

Please give this little guy a forever home.  He’s been dumped twice by people who neglected him and almost let him die.  I’ve spent almost $400 getting him healthy, but to find him a good home where he will get the love and care he deserves, I’m willing to ask for only $150.00 or a donation.  I just want to see him safe.  He is not a pure dachshund, and this is a courtesy listing, but he does have some dachshund in him.  We think he has terrier in him as well, but he does not have the terrier temperament.  His dachshund overpowers his terrier side, and you will have to see the pictures to appreciate his power of adorable-ness.

Please contact me via the email above and I will send you an adoption application.  Please do not use AADR’s application since this is not an AADR adoption.  I hope someone out there can give Ollie what he so deserves

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.

If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $35

Fee r the Health Certificate required. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo.  Please Read Before You Adopt to learn more about transportation options

More about Ollie 3

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
