BIO:

If you are a Mash television fan, than Radar just might be the perfect dachshund for you. He was famously named after the classic Mash series. Radar was surrendered to us by a family that lost their home and moved to an apartment that would not accept pets. He owner reluctantly surrendered him with the hopes that we would find him another loving and happy home. Radar was very loved and well taken care of by his owner for 10 long years and when inquiring about rescue, local shelters told her she would be better off putting him to sleep because he was too old and missing one eye. The day I met Radar, I fell in love. Not only does he not look his age but he absolutely does not act it either. Take one look at his adorable face and you will see that he doesn’t look a day over five.

Radar lost one of his eyes to a dreadful cat and has since been weary (wouldn’t you be?) He had it surgically removed by Tufts in 2006 and has not missed a beat since then. He is extremely happy and would do just about anything to be in your lap or snuggled next to you in bed. Radar came to use in need of a dental and his surgery took him a few weeks to recover so he now up for adoption. He unfortunately lost all but 3 teeth but that doesn’t hinder his healthy appetite. He does only eat wet food, of course. Radar has a huge personality for such a little guy and enjoys playing with other dogs, playing with his people, and he is the best kisser. He even knows how to say his prayers. He is very active and loves to jump on your lap or on the sofa so beware when he makes an attempt as we don’t recommend dachshunds of any to be allowed to climb or jump. Please consider giving Radar his forever home, he deserves only the best and nothing less.

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs’ cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.

If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $25 fee for the Health Certificate required. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo.  Please Read Before You Adopt to learn more about transportation options.  If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and Fill Out an Application.

More about Radar...MA

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
