BIO:

Spanky is a 1 year old doxie that was turned in by a breeder. He is very timid and shy. Spanky is learning to play and interact with other small dogs and loves to sleep in the big bed under the covers and give kisses.

Spanky needs a family with lots of patients, other small dogs and someone that is home all day do to having separation anxiety issues and to help him with his house training. Spanky will not enter the yard to potty unless you go out and stand beside him. He will not potty while on a leash so a fenced in yard is a must.

Spanky does not get along with children or cats. He will growl and nip at them when approached.

So if you have patients, other small dogs, a fenced in yard and home all the time Spanky is the dog for you.

More about Spanky....PA

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
