Brandy was turned in by her owner when an adult daughter moved back home along with her small children. Brandy is a bit timid and didn’t do well with screaming and squealing from little people that moved really fast.  We are glad to help Brandy find a home with children that are old enough to respect a small dog, give her space, and treat her gently. Brandy is happy and friendly, but is a little timid initially and will need someone who will be patient with her and allow her to get comfortable in her new surroundings. She took about 1 day to be rolling on her back asking for belly rubs, so it doesn’t take long! She has proven herself to be quite a lover and enjoys plenty of snuggle time. She is good with cats, other dogs--both male and female---and loves her foster mom and dad. She’s got her foster dad wrapped around her little furry paw and she’s his devoted lap warmer. Brandy is housetrained and will need consistency and a schedule to ensure lady-like behavior in her new home. Brandy enjoys having a fenced yard to play in and walks well on a leash. She naps quietly in a crate while her mom is gone from the house and quietly sleeps through the night in her crate.

If you’re looking for a happy girl with a quiet, gentle spirit, Brandy is the girl for you.  She is a VERY pretty girl and will do well as an only dog or with a brother or sister and a cat or two is OK with her, as well! Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.

If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $35

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
