Snickers was turned in to a shelter because they had way too many dogs and no longer wanted them. So, Snickers and 8 other mini dachshunds need forever homes! All of these dogs were given names of candy, so we call them the Sugar Babies! Snickers and Brach may be litter mates and they look very much alike. Snickers is a bit more independent and out-going than Brach. But, she’s very much a love bug and champion-grade snuggler. Snickers is sweet, outgoing, happy, playful and has a gentle spirit and loves to be with people people! She would be fine with children with her gentle temperament, but is very small and LOOONG! So, children must be old enough to understand the importance of careful handling with a small, delicately built dog.
Snickers is kept on a predictable eat/potty schedule at her foster home and is doing beautifully! You must remember that she requires on-going consistency and patience to ensure that she is successful in her forever home. She’s just a little puppy and must be on a schedule and have positive rewards of praise—and treats! Snickers is sensitive, wants to please his people and will never respond to scolding. Snickers has never been an only dog, so she would do well with a brother or sister. But, with her people-loving personality, she might be fine as an only child in the right circumstance. She’s not been cat tested, but we expect she will be accepting of cats without a problem.
If you have any questions or want more pictures, email her foster mom, Stephanie: smburmei@comcast.net THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE!

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteer that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well for now please look for dogs on your coast.
