Lacee was picked up in a dog cage in a small rural town in South Carolina.  The high kill shelter contacted AADR because they knew Lacee has a great personality and would make a great companion for someone.
I know looking at her photo you say “That is not a dachshund” but she is.  She is a standard dachshund and is very overweight. She is working on losing 15lbs so she can get to her goal weight of 20lbs.
Lacee is a very loving dachshund that just wants to kiss and love on you.  She is housebroken and behaves well in the home.  She does not chew unless you give her a stuffed animal and she will play with it.  Although Lacee is overweight you would not know from her happy dance when you arrive home or the way she runs in the yard to play with the other dachshunds.  She is one of the best fosters that I have ever had at my home.
Anyone would be lucky to have Lacee in their home but for now she has to have heartworm treatments because her previous owners did not give her heartworm preventative each month.  Lacee will be ready for a new home around mid-April but you would not be disappointed if you waited on her to join your home.

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.

If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $35 fee for the Health Certificate required. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo.  Please Read Before You Adopt to learn more about transportation options.  If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and Fill Out an Application.

Good with Dogs

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
