Spunky was dropped at another breed specific rescuers home by someone that didn’t want to take him to the shelter. We don’t know why they chose to give him up because he’s a great dog. He loves to be a couch potato but is also happy running and playing in the fenced in yard. Because he is only two years old we recommend a family that has the time to spend with him and give him lots of attention and exercise to keep him from getting bored. He gets along great with all the foster dogs in the house except when he’s sleeping in a pet bed he doesn’t want to be bothered and will let the other fosters know that too. He likes to sleep in the big bed or is happy on the couch or doggie bed too, he’s just an easy going pup. If you have the desire to add to your home then Spunky is the dog for you. He’s housebroken, friendly after the initial meeting and will be there to follow you all around the house and yard. Please give this boy his wish for his very own family for the summer.

More about SPUNKY...IL
Good with Dogs, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
