BIO:

Bailey is a courtesy listing and not associated with All American Dachshund Rescue.  Please contact Kathy at the e-mail listed above for further details on Bailey and how to adopt him.

Bailey is a sweet little dog with a mysterious background.  He was found wandering down a highway in August of 2011.   He was thin, had a bad tooth and was covered with fleas.  His tail was docked either in an accident or by a previous owner.  The vet estimated that Bailey was at most a year old because of the decay on his teeth, and said his tail had healed up nicely.  Bailey had a bad tooth pulled, was given his shots and has been neutered.

Bailey is full of life- he's not shy at all, and LOVES people.  He is very energetic and loves to go on walks and play.  He is housetrained and does well outside, but is very skittish/nervous when left in a crate, so he does not need to be left alone very long.  He is a very cuddly dog and wants to be with people all the time.  Because of his playful nature, we do not believe he would do well with small children.  This might change when he gets a bit older, though.

Bailey appears to have been through some rough times, so we want him to have a home where he feels safe and loved.

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
