BIO

Trixie was being sold at a yard sale and was being looked at by two young men talking about using her as a bait dog.  Her foster mom heard this and immediately decided whatever it cost she was taking this girl home with her.

Trixie settled right in and made fast friends with the other Dachshund and cat that live in the house.  Trixie Loves her toys she love to chase a ball.  She is very enthusiastic about her squeaky toys so she needs good strong toys to play with, but will play for hours with them, then settle down for a well deserved nap in her bed or the couch if you let her.  She loves to snuggle under the covers in the big bed.  We are working on crate training and she does ok most of the time.  She can melt your heart with her eyes and will wrap you around her little paw if you let her.  If you think you could give Trixie a forever home please fill out an application.

More about Trixie...WA

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
