BEING FOSTERED IN WESTERN NY STATE

Obie was dropped off at an emergency vet clinic by people who said that he was “found” walking across their lawn. He did have a slight back problem and it appeared that he was dragged from a vehicle. He was given prednisone for his back and has recovered but he still sometimes has a funny limp especially in the cold.
From Obie
Hi, my name is Obie my foster mommy always says that I am the sweetest calmest Dachshund she has ever met and she said that if she could she would make me her forever baby but she already has two crazy boys and one girl who thinks she is the “queen” and doesn’t think it would be fair to me. My foster auntie says “I have the pep of a pup and the wise look of a grandpa”. I love to lay in the “big bed” all snuggled under the blanket and man those stuffed toys are awesome. I can go a little crazy and try to eat your hand when you give me a treat but “my mommy” is working with me on that and I am getting better at it everyday. I just love to be near my people family either in your lap or even next to you is fine. I hardly ever bark even when those other goofs are going crazy that is unless I think you are giving the “other fur baby” too much of your attention. Then I let out my manly bark to remind you that I am there. My Foster Mommy says that I would be a great fur baby for an older person who just wants a great companion or even for a family who just wants a good pal – I love to take walks and go in the car anywhere as long as I am with you. I even get along good with the other “fur babies” here I don’t really play with them too much but I don’t get grumpy when they are trying to play with me.
Out of State and Canidian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arranements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

More about OBIE...NY

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
