BIO

Hi There! Thanks for reading my Bio. I am Zelda, I'm two years old and very shy a little nervous and very petite. I've had a tough first two years. You see, I was a “puppymiller” and the people that owned me were not very caring. I never got to run and play with my friends and I didn't get love like I wanted. I never had a toy to play with.

My Foster Parents have really been great to me. They gave me my own bed, toys and even some treats. I really like my  brother and sister...they are cool! They play with me and have shown me how to play with my new teddy-bear toy. Since I had never been on a leash, this has been something new. Mom and Dad say I get better at walking every day...I usually follow my brother and sister and really like the new smells! I am doing pretty well with going potty outside. Most times I remember to go outside. Ocassionally, however, I forget....but I'm trying very hard!

Mom and Dad say that someone will adopt me and love me. They told me that I'm the “perfect” baby and that I will fit into a home with other small dogs but probably not children...What's a “children?”

Please call my Foster Parents...I really can't wait to show you how smart I am and to go to my forever home.

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
