BIO

Ivan is a wonderful senior gentleman who, if you are lucky enough to become his forever Mom or Dad, will give you more love than you can imagine.  He has been a marvelous addition to his foster family.   Ivan is absolutely no trouble, barks very little and enjoys his foster brothers and sisters.

Ivan likes toys, treats, lying in the sun to catch a few rays, running in his yard, hunting squirrels, playing with his foster siblings, riding in the car, sleeping in the “big bed” and napping in his recliner.

Ivan LOVES belly rubs.

Don’t let a little gray hair fool you.   Ivan is an active guy and the child gate is no obstacle.  He is over in the blink of an eye when it means he can be with his humans.  However, being a senior, he is mellow and much too sophisticated for juvenile stuff like shoe chewing.  There is just no time in his schedule for destructive activities.   He will be fine as an only pup or with brothers and/or sisters.  A forever home with a fenced yard would be fantastic!

Ivan was found as a stray wandering the streets so we are unsure of his background.  We do know that he is a real sweetheart who is still a bit shy.  His personality comes through a little more every day.

Please give him the opportunity to be your “little buddy” sharing your life and being loved forever.  He deserves it.

Ivan wants to remind you “Senior Wieners Rock!!”

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
