BIO:

My name is Elvis 3 and I was sent to the humane shelter in Nashville, TN.   My dad was moving across country and couldn’t take me and my two friends with him. We all were adopted right away- but I was returned for some odd reason unknown to me??   The humane shelter felt it was in my best interest to send me to All American Dachshund Rescue (AADR) who knows a lot about Dachshunds.  My foster mom figured out right away what the problem was!  I need a doggie door and she had one and so does my new foster mom Cherie.  My original home had a doggie door- I was able to go out and do my business on my own.   Sooo - I’m housetrained: meaning I don’t potty in the house with a doggie door because I can let myself out when I need to go.   I was never taught how to ask to go outside and I had accidents in the house at times.  I am very smart and can learn if someone takes the time to teach me!   If you have a doggie door or can take time to show me how to potty outside (w/o a doggie door) – I can fit in your home and make you proud of me!

I like my foster mom – but I want my FOREVER home. I get along with all the other doxies in the house; but I don’t know about cats.   I am a very happy little guy, I have no food or fear aggressions, and I rarely bark (except at strangers and squirrels).  My wish list would consist of: a doggie door, a fenced in yard and another doggie friend to play with.   But what I “really” want/need is a loving family who wants to keep me “forever”.   If you adopt me I will make you proud of me, love you and be your best friend forever.

If you can see it in your heart to give me a chance please fill out an application but please only serious applicants only as I do not want to be returned again.

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
