Adoption fee will be lower if you adopt them as a pair...350.00+10.00 for Stretch and Lady Stretch is also a very loving boy in need of lots of attention. He loves to give kisses and sit on your lap to take naps. He was abused (this happened before the people that abandoned him) and had cigarettes put out around his ears and head. It does not look outwardly on him as bad as it sounds. It looks like he has a little bit of skin where his hair hasn't grown back. He is wonderful with small kids as well as other dogs. He is housetrained, but has some anxiety if you leave him unattended during the day, so I would suggest crating them together. I usually put them in the kitchen with the baby gate up if I leave them home alone. Both of these dogs are a bonded pair, so they need to go together. They lick each other and clean each others ears (I know, ewww!!), but they love each other and I think Stretch relies a lot on Lady as his comfort blanket.

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
