BIO:

Foster mom says "gotta love this guy!!"

Buddy #8 came from a high kill shelter in Hattiesburg, MS and heartworm positive. Since shelters can’t/don’t heartworm treat heartworm positive dogs we were his only hope.

He has been through his treatments and is ready to go on to his forever home. He will come with 6 mos of Heartgard and will need to be re-tested in 6 mos then can be put on other forms of prevention.

Buddy is a good boy, sleeps all night in his crate covered up with blanket. Likes to sing/howl for his dinner but can be possessive of his food so we feed him in a crate to prevent any issues.

He loves the fenced in yard and taking a stroll around the fence, inside he’s quite happy in a doggie bed in the same room you’re in.

Buddy would be fine as an only pet or with a female companion. He does like to play once in a while but is more content snoozing the day away. He rides fine in a car and is good with strangers.

Consider giving this boy a lasting forever family, please.

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
