BIO:

 Hi my name is Winston#4 and I came from MO when my family had to give me up because of the child’s severe allergies. I had a rough start when I came into rescue you see my owners didn’t give me yearly dentals and when I came into rescue they gave me a dental and it felt so much better to get those nasty teeth out of my mouth but unfortunately the bacteria from the dental went back into my system and for a while there they thought they were going to lose me and I did too but finally I started feeling better and every day I got better and now I’m ready for a new home.

If you are looking for a laid back guy that just wants to be in your lap when you want down time or someone to watch you while you work in the house or fenced in yard I’m your man!

I would be fine as an only dog or with another partner and I don’t bark much at all, I leave that for the younger ones. I’m a good boy or so my foster mom says, I really like her but I like dad too. I’d be a great apartment dog if you want a mellow kinda guy. Ladies I won’t say you’re too fat or ask to borrow money or look at other women and Guys if you wanna watch sports on TV all weekend and drink beer I’m right there with ya.  Please give me a home for the holidays.

=============== Information for all dogs/adopters ==============

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $35 Fee added for the required Health Certificate.

We will not adopt into the state of CT, RI or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this, you need to take this up with your legislatures.

We are now approved to adopt/foster in the state of NH but adopters will have to pay health certificate fee of $35.00 once to get the dog to our quarantine facility and another $50.00 fee to get the dog out of quarantine after two days.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please visit the Adoption Information.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an Application.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well.  For now, please look for dogs on your coast.

More about Winston #4...DC

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
