BIO:

My name is Breeze: AADR rescued me from Greensboro, AL. My previous owner was an ill-health backyard breeder that wanted to find some place for his breeding stock to go. I am about 4 years old, timid, and very scared.  Once I get to know you I am affectionate and love to cuddle on your lap. I love treats and am food motivated.

I have been with my new “Foster Mom” for just a short time.  I have been completely vetted and am heartworm negative - I got a “clean bill of health” from the Vet.  I have learned so much since I’ve been with my new foster mom: I can go in/out of the doggie door, play with the other doxies in the house (5 others besides me) and cuddle on my Foster Mom’s lap as much as I want.  I like taking naps on the rug or back of the couch and being held and cuddled.   I don’t bark much and have no food or fear aggressions.  I do scare easily so be gentle with me as much as possible.  Because I came from either a Puppy mill or a Back yard breeder, I need help with potty and leash training.    I am looking for my forever home; a family who will give me lots of love, take me for walks, cuddle and play with me and always keep me safe.  I was told I would do better with an Experienced Family who is familiar with Rescue dogs that have NOT been socialized.  I need a family who have LOTS of patience’s and will take the time to teach me all the “doggie” things I have been missing out on.   A fenced-in back yard would be a PLUS! I need my FOREVER HOME - only serious applicants need apply.

More about Breeze..VA

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
