BIO:

My name is Bailey and yes I am a little chubby, oh ok, I am very chubby! I was told by my foster mommy this was not good for my health, especially for my back. Thus she has me on a strict diet so I can get healthy which I don’t like, but I am still sweet and very loving because that is just how I am!”

Bailey is owner surrender who seems to have been well taken care for, but unfortunately too much love shown by food. We have her on a strict diet and this needs to be continued so she can get to a healthy weight. Bailey is a happy camper who doesn’t meet a stranger in fear, instead in tail wagging and kisses; lots of kisses! She is not a barker, just to bark, but to be a good watchdog.  She also does a howling bark when we come home because she is so glad to see us. It is as adorable as she is. Bailey gets along with our two doxies and our cat. She is housebroken, but does pee some when too excited. She is crate trained even though with us she sleeps in her bed on the floor for the most part. Bailey walks well on a leash and loves to car ride. And she is for sure a lap dog due to her loving disposition, and she would like to say a little about that.

“If you adopt me you will be so glad you did as I can give so many kisses to show you love as well as keep you warm by cuddling right up to you. Also my foster mommy & daddy keep saying I am so beautiful and I agree! However, I will be most happy just to be your best friend and companion forever, always showing you love and laughter every day.”

More about Bailey #7...FL

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
