BIO:

My name is Yoda and I am looking for My Furever Home.  Yoda was a surrender to AADR due to his families problems.  What we do know is Yoda is very shy and has anxiety which he is on medication that controls this.  We are working on his socialization skills and potty training. Yoda has always been in the house so he is pee pad trained. Yoda is a gentle gentleman with a little weight problem but we are helping him slim down, he recently had his teeth cleaned and lost several teeth so now he is happily eating dry food that has been softened in water.

I am a wirehaired doxie that will be getting my grooming on soon, so watch for my new pictures to come.

Yoda is coming out of his shyness since his mouth doesn't hurt any longer. As Yoda’s foster mom I think he will need a special family, that understands what he’s been though and will help him to be a wonderful pet going forward.

He is learning to play a little with the other fosters in the home, at first he was very scared of them then realized they meant no harm after all he never was around other dogs or cat. We want a family with older kids, and maybe, another dog is ok. We definitely think a fenced in yard will be great because Yoda is just learning to walk on a leash. Only apply if you have a fenced in yard and NO invisible fencing is acceptable for this or any of our dogs.

Yoda will go in his “crate” at night to sleep or if you let me I will join you in the big bed that’s good too, I get along with both male and female dogs and learning what a cat is with my foster mom.   I’m really a laid back doxie.

He has LOT’s of love to give and just wants a Furever home of his own!!

More about Yoda..FL

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
