Tucker is a very FUN LOVING and active little dog! He was a stray that has come up from Alabama. He was in a high kill shelter and we are so very thankful that he was taken out of there just in time. He is a 20 lb dachshund mix. Tucker gets along well with other dogs and with adults and children over the age of 15. He has been settling in great in his foster home. We have been working with him on training and he does awesome walking on the leash. He is understanding basic commands. He loves to go on walks, running at the beach and playing in the yard. He ALWAYS is up for doing something adventurous! A fenced in yard would be GREAT for him. He loves chasing leaves and bounding around the yard with the other dogs in his foster home. He is a sweet and social dog!
TUCKER is full of energy, very intelligent, and is a TOTAL LOVE BUG. He has done well with crate training and he is house-trained. He LOVES his doggy toys and is learning to play fetch! All TUCKER really wants is for you to love him.

More about TUCKER...MA
Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
