BIO

Meet Jana, the teeniest dachshund I’ve ever seen!  She is adorable and, oh so, delicate.  She was rescued with 8 other doxies from a backyard breeder/ puppymill.  To look at her you’d guess she is a puppy, but she’s actually a full grown 8 year old charmer!  Jana has just arrived into foster care.  She has not learned her name yet and does not grasp walking on a leash, but we’ll start working on that.  The good news is that she goes potty in the fenced yard when taken out every few hours.  Jana gets along just fine with the other doxies in her foster homes ... and has no problem sleeping with the pack in the BIG bed at night.

Jana is calm, sweet, and submissive ... although still a little skittish in her new environment.  She is trying to learn the routine at her new home and appears to be figuring things out quite quickly.  I will update her BIO in few weeks as she continues to grow and prosper.

If you are looking for the cutest little love bug ever, Jana is your girl!

(BTW, that’s a 13 lb. tweenie she is lying next to in one of her photos.  Told you Jana is TINY!!!)

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
