BIO:

My name is Mitsi: AADR rescued me from a Missouri puppy mill.   Although I don’t know a life beyond my puppy mill life – I am learning and experiencing many new things in my kind and loving Foster home.   I want a family that wants to hold and comfort me as they continue to help me learn the basic things about being a dog.   I am 5 years old and somewhat on the shy side.   I am affectionate and love to cuddle on your lap whenever possible.   Although I only have a few teeth (No Vet/Dental Vet care before AADR) I HAVE A GREAT APPETITE for small bites and soft food.   I love treats and I am NOT food aggressive.

I have been with my new “Foster Mom” for just a little while now.  I love going in/out of the doggie door for my potty breaks after each meal.  I have learned to sit and wait when dinners ready.  I get so excited – I do spins around the room.  I never realized how much fun eating could be?  Every evening when the sun goes down, my Foster Mommy let’s be cuddle on her lap with the others and snuggle in the warm blankets (Ummm . . . this feels so good and I know I am safe).   I like taking naps on the rug or the open crate and being held and cuddled.   I don’t bark much and have no food or fear aggressions.  I am still learning my potty habits and leash training.  Michigan is very “cold” and lots of snow – I can hardly wait until spring and warmer weather

I am looking for my forever home; a family who will give me lots of love, take me for walks, cuddle and play with me and always keep me safe.  I may need a Family who is patient and work helping me learn my social skills and teach me all the “doggie” things I need to learn.   I sure would like my FOREVER HOME before the spring and the snow melts.  Only serious applicants need apply.

If you have questions about this puppy please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  There will be an additional $35 Fee for the required Health Certificate, if shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter.

We will not adopt into the state of CT, RI or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this you need to take this up with your legislatures.

We are now approved to adopt/foster in the state of NH but adopters will have to pay health certificate fee of 35.00 once to get the dog to our quarantine facility and another 35.00 fee to get the dog out of quarantine after two days.

Please Read Before You Adopt to learn more about transportation options.  If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and Fill Out an ApplicationTHANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well for now please look for dogs on your coast.
Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.

More about Mitsi.....MI

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
