Trudy was saved by a Good Sanitarian from being a breeder dog in West TN. Her teeth were very dirty but cleaned up good that’s why we think she could be younger than 6 yrs. She was also in heat when she came in but has been spayed and completely vetted including a fresh dental. Trudy is a happy girl and loves her people but she can be pushy to female dogs so we suggest that she go to a home by herself or with a male dog. She is learning to play with toys a little. She must be kept on a schedule of pottying and she really likes it when you go out with her. She’s very happy to sleep in a doggie bed at night in a confined area with a puppy pad or newspaper. She does ok with a leash but not her strong suit so that’s why we are suggesting a fenced in yard for this little girl, she loves to go out and explore the fenced in yard when weather permits.
Please help Trudy to continue to learn what it’s like to be a pet and not a breeding machine. Interested parties can contact either foster e mail for more info. Thank you for looking and we are hoping that you’ll pick Trudy to be your next “best friend” she’d love that!
More about Trudy.....VA
Good with Dogs, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
