Update, 12-1-14:

Scrappy is my name and de-stuffing toys is my game!  I haven’t met a plush toy I could not destroy!  I love to play and run and chase and squeak!  I am larger than a mini dachshund but that just makes me more huggable and squeezable!  My Foster Mommy hopes I get adopted by someone with another dog I can pal around with since I get along so well with other animals.  I love people too and am a great lap dog and bed partner.  Everyone I meet says how sweet I am and that I am a good boy.  Handsome too!  I also like to go for walks on my leash and go bye bye in the car.  There isn’t much I do not like to do as long as I am near my human.  Could you be that human?  Email my Foster Mommy for more information…she loves to talk about me!

I have had the pleasure of  having Scrappy in my home for about a week now and he is proving to be a wonderful big boy.  Don’t let his size intimidate you; every ounce that he weighs is an ounce of love and affection.  Right from the minute Scrappy got to my home he has been so loving and playful.  Scrappy loves playing with all the toys lying around.

He has a lot of fun running around the house and the yard playing with his foster brother and sisters.   Scrappy is doing great with the big dogs as well with the small dogs. He is getting better on a leash, but he does still pull a little on the first half of his walks, but as the walk gets longer, the pulling gets less.  When he first got here, he had one accident in the house.  Since learning how to use the dog door, there have been few other accidents. Being kept on a schedule and lots of encouragement he is doing good.  Scrappy sleeps in a kennel at night the first few minutes he will whine and bark a few times but a simple stern NO and he will stop and sleep the rest of the night.

If you are looking to add to your furfamily Scrappy will be your guy!  Scrappy would love to have a Furever Home of his own.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
