BIO:

Stu came in as a stray in Lewisburg, TN. Found wandering the roads and no one claimed him, rather than take him to the shelter we were contacted. He’s turned into a very nice dog and we can’t imagine why anyone would just lose him and not go looking for him.

We do think that he is younger than 5 but of course have no way of knowing for sure. He is playful and would do well with another dog to play with. He loves snuggle time and sleeps either on the couch or doggie bed at night. He really needs a fenced-in yard to run off some of his energy. He likes to play with toys and other dogs.

We did see that he has a scar on his back, probably a chemical burn from cheap tick topical but his fur covers a lot of it so not to noticeable.

At one point we think he was fed off the table as he shows too much interest in any one eating but he's getting better since he knows he won’t get food from his foster family. He’s a good eater and goes out well on a schedule for potty breaks.

He loves loves human attention and eats it up with a spoon. This boy would be great for an active family or someone retired. Please consider giving him a wonderful furever home. Email his foster mom with more questions if interested in Stu.

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
