BIO (updated 7/16/17):

Sadly, Molly had to be returned because of the health of her previous adopters. She has put on a little weight due to being inactive, but she is already shedding the pounds. Molly is a sweet girl and does not act her age. She would do great in a home where both people work and she'll just wait for you to come home, and she would be fine alone or with another dog. She does like to follow you around the house or in the yard. Being with her person is her mission in life.  Please make YOUR home her last home... apply today!

Molly was originally an owner surrender along with another dog, and both were heartworm positive. She was treated and fully recovered. She loves to be with her people and will hunt you down in whatever room of the house you are in. She loves to cuddle with you while you are having down-time. She would love to sleep with you but has gotten used to sleeping in the living room in a doggie bed or on the couch.

She is doing very well at house-training but prefers you to go out with her when she has to go out.

She is crate-trained but doesn’t really care for the crate. She is fine with other dogs, gets along with male and females, but we don’t know about cats.

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
