Tater #3 was given up on a social media website. Sadly, he was heartworm positive, had bad teeth, and was very thin. It was pretty clear we did him a great service by taking him away from the person giving him away. We immediately took him to the vet and got him completely vetted, including a dental where he lost 12 teeth and we are sure he felt better with them out of his mouth. The next step was to rid him of those nasty heartworms. He has now finished his treatments and he’s ready to find his new forever home.

Talk about a couch buddy, that would be Tater…you no sooner sit down, or in some cases don’t even get sit down, and he’s in your lap ready to keep a small portion of your lap warm with his presence. He rides great in the car and walks great on a leash. If you are looking for a buddy to take everywhere you go and hangs onto your every word, then we think Tater would be a great fit for you! Because he wants to be wherever  you are then it’s best to have a fenced in yard if you are wanting to work out in the yard when we are not house-bound like we are this winter.

As an added bonus, Tater is coming with at least 4 mos of Heartgard and he won’t need any flea and tick until April 15^th. Can you beat that deal?!

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
