BIO:

Sprout came in with 3 other dachshunds from a shelter in AL where they were dumped either by a breeder or a family that had too many dogs, we were never able to find out.

What we do know is that Sprout deserves the best home we can find for him. He was sick for a bit after we got him, probably from something he picked up in the shelter but he recovered and is now putting on some much needed weight.

Sprout loves to play with the younger dogs in the foster home but loves his lap time too.  He really is starved for attention and we are asking you to give him a home where his dream of a loving family will come true. He really wants a fenced yard to call his own and another dog to play with. Please only consider applying if you can help him on his journey to being completely housebroken, leash trained and crate trained. We can start him on his journey, but we need someone to finish that journey with him. Are you committed enough to do that? If you are, please fill out an application to adopt this sweet boy and he will reward you with years of love and devotion!

More about Sprout....NJ

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
