BIO:

Lexie came from a small shelter in rural OH along with another dachshund when the people no longer wanted her.

Lexie is a beautiful red head with a very quiet gentle nature. We think she’d do fine by herself and possibly another dachshund for company. She is quite happy laying in a doggie bed or exploring the fenced in yard.

Lexie did have a small hernia that was repaired when she was spayed so for a couple weeks she’ll have to stay quiet so the hernia repair can heal but other than that she’s good as new.

Lexie loves a good blanket and if you cover her up in her doggie bed, you’ll find her there the next morning, all snuggled and warm.

Lexie has not been with us too long, but if you are interested in her, please e-mail us with questions or put in an application. Either way, we don’t think you can go wrong welcoming this little girl into your home to be a part of your family!

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
