We are pretty sure Oscar came from a puppy mill in NC from his demeanor. Oscar was/is starved for attention, wants to be with you all the time and will follow you from room to room. Sadly because of his past life he has separation anxiety but if left out in the house he’ll be fine but if allow out in the yard or put in a crate he will try to get out. We have been working with him and he has gotten better but we think he would do better in a home where someone is home all the time or the new owner can take him with them. Oscar would dearly love that because all he wants to do is be with you! He’s doing very well with housebreaking but does need schedule.
Short legs, fat feet just what you want in a standard dachshund!!
Oscar is a handsome dachshund as you can see from his picture. If you are a fan of the Standards than Oscar would be a great dog for you to adopt, he just has a few issues that need to be worked though, after all are any of us perfect with the life experiences we’ve had? I think not. Please consider giving him a forever home, he’ll be ready for his forever home the Middle of April and he comes with 5 mos of Heartgard!

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
