BIO:

Auzzie came from AL where he was posted on Craigslist for sale. The good Samaritan purchased him to keep him from going into the wrong hands.

When we got Auzzie it was clear that he’d been heavy handed so when you go to pick him up he’ll belly up or roll into a ball. We are working with him to hopefully get him to understand that no one will hit him any longer so for that reason Auzzie will need a special home that has lots of patience to help him be the pet he was meant to be. He’s a sweet boy, loves lap time, goes in a crate for dinner time and when the foster mom/dad goes away. Auzzie seems more comfortable with a woman than a man but it was a woman that he was with so it’s just a matter of having the man around.

Our wish for Auzzie is to have a fenced in yard and another younger dog for him to play with as he does love to play out in the yard on nice days.

Please remember any dog that comes into rescue is not perfect if they were they’d not be here. When you adopt a rescue you’re committing to helping a dog that got the short end of the stick the first half of their life. You are adopting to make the last half of their life be a happy one with much love.  LOVE, LIVE ADOPT!

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
