BIO:
Lorelei came in very pregnant and sick. She had her babies the day she came out of the shelter in AL but sadly out of the 5 two were lost. She had no milk for them so they were bottle fed and she ended up very sick herself and spent the better part of a month in the vet hospital to get her well. She is NOW well and looking for her forever home. Lorelei came from a hoarder situation and is starved for attention. She is an alpha female so will need to go to a home with no other dogs or a home with a male dog.
Lorelei is very sweet will sit/lay with you as long as you are resting or will follow you in the house or yard. Because Lorelei had a rough start we want her to go to the best possible home and that would be with someone that is home a lot to continue to help her with her housebreaking, must have a fenced in yard. She’s not un-socialized so visitors would be welcomed by her especially if a treat were offered in your home.
Please consider giving Lorelei her last forever home, she deserves it after what she’s been though.
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
