Update, 6-22-15:

Hello dachshund lovers!
 My name is Moe.
My foster mom asked me to tell my story,
 so here goes!

I lived with a guy
Who left me alone.
I had lots of buddies,
But never a bone.

I often went hungry
And had little water
Till a sweet dachshund lover
Decided to bother.

She talked to my owner
and convinced him to surrender
Salvation was near
For me and my members

Now I live with a lady
And her menagerie
Who showers me with kisses
And tells me she loves me.

I love my foster sister
and brothers
We wrestle and snuggle
And all sleep together

My dream is a forever home
Where I am the star
A place full of love
where I can go far

I'll be a good boy
And not eat too much
I just need a bed
And a loving touch

Moe is a very smart boy. He is also very happy. He doesn't need much... A bowl of water, some good food and a place on my lap. He is sooooo affectionate, gets along great with other dogs, and just wants to snuggle. If you're looking for a best friend to snuggle with, Moe is your guy!

_______________________________

Moe came from a very neglectful  situation.  He was left for days on end all alone.  Finally the owner decided it was best to let Moe go and find a better home so he surrendered him to us, it was the best thing for little Moe.

Moe is scared at first and of the unknown but once he knows you mean him no harm he warms up and just wants to soak love up like a sponge. Hard to believe that someone could do that to a poor dachshund!

So Moe is learning to be a pet, to live inside, sleep in a doggie bed and enjoy having clean water and good food.

We’ll be adding more of an update as we know more about him but if his story has touched your heart please fill out an application to adopt this sweet boy. Contact foster mom with any further questions.

More about Moe.....NC

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
