BIO:  Lula came in with her mommy when she was surrender from a breeder in KY. She is too small to go to her forever home right now but will be ready on the 1st of July when she’s had her 2nd round of puppy shots.

Please do not apply if you have children under 10 yrs of age. Lula is going to be a mini and she could easily be injured from small children, even children that have grown up with pets.

Lula’s personality is beginning to immerge and she’s going to be a little diva! She’s not afraid to let you know when she’s not happy with something and can even growl. She will need to continue to be socialized with strangers when she goes to her forever home. Too many people make the mistake of not taking their dachshund places and when they finally have visitors the dachshund is afraid and will bark and could even be aggressive to strangers, this is very important for their informative months.

Only serious inquiries please and only apply if you have

  1.       A fenced in yard.
  2.       Home to house train her.
  3.       Another younger dog for her to play with.

Because she is so tiny and such a sweet little girl we are being very picky when picking her forever home. Good Luck, you’ll have one sweet girl if you go through the process and are chosen.

=============== Information for all dogs/adopters ==============

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $45 Fee added for the required Health Certificate.

We will not adopt into the state of CT, RI or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this, you need to take this up with your legislatures.

We are now approved to adopt/foster in the state of NH but adopters will have to pay health certificate fee of $45.00 once to get the dog to our quarantine facility and another $50.00 fee to get the dog out of quarantine after two days.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please visit the Adoption Information.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an Application.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well.  For now, please look for dogs on your coast.

More about Lula....MD

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
