BIO: Molly is 5 years old and is just a little girl weighing 11.5 pounds. She has super soft medium length black hair. Molly loves to go for rides in the car and loves to go for walks. She is very timid around new people, especially men and children. Molly sleeps in a crate or at the foot of my bed in her doggie bed. She will need someone to show her how to give love. You will need you to pick her up and love her - she will not jump on your lap or your bed. She is learning how to be a love bug. I have had her for a month and she is just now starting to get a personality. She gets excited when I come home. She jumps up and down and wags her tail and follows me till I pick her up and give her kisses. When I sit and watch TV I put her in my lap and she will stay there and hang out with me. When I go to bed I put her up in bed with me and she will snuggle for a bit and then she will move over to sleep either at the foot of the bed or in her bed on the floor. She is a super sweet girl who was never given the chance to experience real love. She was cooped up and made to be a breeder. She is just now learning that life is ok and there are people that are good and kind. I think Molly will make someone a very loyal and sweet companion. The more this person kisses her, holds her, takes her for car rides, goes for walks, the better Molly will be. She is a sweet girl who just needs someone to be patient with her and give her a chance. Please contact me if you have any questions bout Molly – I would love to talk to you about her.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
