BIO:  Hi my name is Lucy and I am looking for my furever home. The first 5 years of my life I was used as a breeder than adopted by a nice family. Unfortunately they had to surrender me because they could not keep me. AADR stepped in and give me a chance to find a family that would love me and not give me away again. My foster mom thinks that I am just a little sweetheart and does not understand how anyone could give me up. I am really friendly and love’s attention, if you make a step I am right behind you. I especially like following you into the kitchen; I just might find something that was dropped or a get a doggie treat. I am completely housebroken and crate trained, I am such a good girl I sleep all night in the crate and don’t make a sound. But I do like my doggie treats when I do my business outside and get in the crate for the night. Foster mom is training me to walk better on a leash I really do not have a lot of experience in that area. I am not really big on toys since I do not know what they are for but I am not too old to learn about them.  It would be best if I did not go to a family that has small children I am so small they might hurt me by mistake. Older children would be fine if they know how to handle small dogs. It would be great if my furever home had another dog for me to pal around with.

Please consider me if you are looking for a four legged furry friend to give you lots of doggies kisses and love you unconditionally.

Also video links to Youtube are ok and encouraged.  However, inclusion of videos to the dog’s bios is at the sole discretion of the Board of Directors and Johnny based on quality, content, and favorable portrayal of the dachshund(s).

=============== Information for all dogs/adopters ==============

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $35 Fee added for the required Health Certificate.

We will not adopt into the state of CT, RI or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this, you need to take this up with your legislatures.

We are now approved to adopt/foster in the state of NH but adopters will have to pay health certificate fee of $35.00 once to get the dog to our quarantine facility and another $50.00 fee to get the dog out of quarantine after two days.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please visit the Adoption Information.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an Application.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well.  For now, please look for dogs on your coast.

More about Lucy....NY

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
