updated bio: Oscar is the perfect companion, the most loving sweet dog you could ever want. He loves to cuddle and snuggle. He loves you to rub his belly and pet his soft, silky fur. Showing no signs of mistreatment, he obviously was raised in a kind, caring household. He is adept at using a dog door and also understands “outside” and will go to the door to be let out if you do not have a doggie door. He loves just to hang out, snuggling next to you if you want to read. He will intently supervise your gardening and yard work. He loves to go to the park and sniff the exciting scents. His current foster home has three other dogs and he gets along marvelously. He sleeps in a crate in his foster home but would prefer to sleep in the big bed with the permanent dogs and humans. During his rescue-for-adoption travels, he adapted calmly and easily to every exchange. He is a keeper so his foster mom loves him way too much and needs him to find a perfect forever home soon.
BIO: Oscar is a laid-back kinda guy! No drama for him... squirrels in the trees, no worries, he doesn’t care. Neighbors in the yard? So what! If you are looking for a dachshund that only cares about his food and a nice doggie bed, then look NO further, Oscar is your man. He’s fine with men and women, and all dogs but we don’t know about cats.
Oscar came from a shelter in NY where he was dumped by his owners - we are not sure why cause he’s pretty close to perfect!
We just got him in so we are still learning about his personality so check back if he’s caught your eye for more info, or better yet contact his foster mom and she’ll answer any questions you may have.
=============== Information for all dogs/adopters ==============
If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.
We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $45 Fee added for the required Health Certificate.
We will not adopt into the state of CT, RI or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this, you need to take this up with your legislatures.
We are now approved to adopt/foster in the state of NH but adopters will have to pay health certificate fee of $45.00 once to get the dog to our quarantine facility and another $50.00 fee to get the dog out of quarantine after two days.
To understand the adoption process through AADR, please visit the Adoption Information. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.
If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an Application.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
