BIO:
Butterscotch is a sweet girl who found herself at the animal shelter when her owner passed away. She was well loved and several pounds overweight when she arrived. Her diet and exercise program is going well and she just needs to lose a couple more pounds to reach a healthy weight. She had her teeth cleaned and a benign growth removed from her elbow. She is feeling fit as a fiddle now!
Scotchie walks well on a leash and enjoys short strolls around the neighborhood. She is friendly and likes meeting new people. She is housebroken and gets along well with other dogs. She has not been around cats, but can be introduced to some if you need to know how she does. Butterscotch hasn't been around young children, but is friendly and would be fine with children who are old enough to understand they must be gentle with her. Because she is so good in the house, Scotchie has not been crated much. She spends her days lounging in a dog bed and snoozing in the sun. She is ready to head out for a walk when foster mom gets home. At night she sleeps in a dog bed in foster mom's room.
Butterscotch arrived with her friend, Nugget, so if you are looking for a pair, they are already friends. They are independent, so do not need to be adopted together.
If you are looking for a good natured little pal, Butterscotch is your girl! You can learn more and fill out an application at www.allamericandachshundrescue.org
More about Butterscotch.....NC
Good with Dogs, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
