BIO:
Monty is a sweet, sweet little boy!! He was pulled from the shelter after he had been removed from an abusive situation in his home. You would never ever know that this little guy had such a hard start in life. He is so sweet! He loves to snuggle, play and give endless kisses. J The only signs of his previous trauma are two burn marks that he has on his back. They will heal with time but his hair will never regrow in those spots. He is a standard dachshund so he will be a big beautiful boy when he is full grown. He plays great with our other dogs and is learning how to play with toys. We are working on going outside to potty and he is doing really well when kept on a schedule. He is crate trained but doesn’t like it very much. He is doing really well walking on the leash when he is wearing a harness.
I can’t say enough wonderful things about Monty. He has captured the heart of everyone that has come in contact with him. I promised him when I rescued him that he will have a forever home that will give him the love that he deserves for the rest of his life. Please help me keep that promise.

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
