Update for Ruben and Stella:  Hi, I am foster mom Terry.  I have had Ruben and Stella for a few months now and they are both wonderful dogs.  Stella is a young girl with alot of energy.  She is very playful and very loveable.  She is definately the boss between the two, but not in a bad way.  She guides Ruben and plays daily with him.  Ruben is very laid back.  He loves to just lay at your side all day long.  He is happy to just be loved.  He took a little longer to warm up, but when he did, oh boy, he is just the sweetest dog.  Both dogs are very happy, loving dogs that would be perfect for someone looking for sweet dogs to hold and play with.

BIO:  

Hi, foster mom Terry here, to tell you about Ruben and Stella.  Ruben is 7 years old and Stella is 2 years old.  They are both wire haired dachshunds.  Ruben is very mellow and relaxed.  He loves to just be close to you or in your lap.  Total snuggle bunny!  He doesn't let much bother him and will let Stella walk all over him, literally!  Stella is a ball of energy!  She loves to play with toys and knows how to fetch.  She is the queen of kisses and will cover you with them.  She loves to be held, but won't lay with you too long....there are things to do.  Both sleep well in their kennel together and are using the doggie door to go outside to go potty.  So, far...no accidents in the house!  Both are very well behaved and would make the most awesome forever pets.

These dogs came from a loving home in which the owner just didn't have the time to spend with them.  She wanted them to have a loving home with people that could give them the time they need.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
