BIO: Snickers came from a family that gave him up because he was getting increasingly aggressive to the toddler. What they didn’t do was make the child have any boundaries with Snickers so the child was terrorizing him. For that reason he can never be adopted to a family that has toddlers or plan on having children. He was fine with the older child in the home but not the toddler.

Snickers is leery of strangers but once you gain his trust he turns into a lover boy. Snickers loves to play with other dogs but is toy aggressive.

While it may sound like Snickers has a lot of issues most of these are due to no fault of his. He loves loves to be outside so he must go to a family with a fenced in yard where he can play with the older children.

Ideally a family that lives close enough that could visit with Snickers several times to see that he really is a great boy.

Housetraining and leash walking no problem!

His coat is soft as silk and truly sheds very little, once a week brushing will keep him looking handsome.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
