Hi my name is Jewels! I am a very playful 9 month old Dorky (dachshund/yorkie mix). It’s really hard to tell from my pictures but I have long soft hair. The nice people at AADR had to shave my fur when I came here because I was so matted. My beautiful hair is starting to grow back and my foster mom and dad tell me that I am the softest puppy that they have ever had. Even though I was rescued from a puppy mill, I am not your typical puppy mill dog. I’m not scared of anything! There is nobody that I won’t play with. In fact, if my foster brothers and sisters don’t want to play, I just pester them until they do! So I think that a home with another younger dog would be best for me. Once I am done playing, I just want to curl up in your lap and snuggle. I have mastered the magic hole in the door that leads to the outside. I love to run in and out so a fenced in backyard would be a really great thing for me. I am also doing a great job learning to go potty outside. I haven’t had a single accident!! I love to give kisses and I will give you as many as you want! I have a 10 year old human foster brother and I like him a lot. I have never growled at him (or anyone for that matter). I have met the kitty in my foster home. I wanted to play with her but she is old and grumpy so she smacked me in the face.

Hi- foster mom here. Jewels is one of the most unique little girls that we have ever had. She has a very sweet spirit and personality. For being 8 months old, she is very well socialized. She greets everyone with tail wags and kisses even if she has never seen them before. She would be a great addition to any home. Could yours be the lucky home?? AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
