BEING FOSTERED IN INDIANAPOLIS, IN......

STEVIE was found wandering down a road in Cheatham County, TN so was picked up by animal control and Dachshund Rescue was called. STEVIE is a sweet sweet boy, love attention and to be loved on. He gets along with all the other dogs here and would be great with small children as he is not hyper like most pups. He is a gentle soul. He likes to play with the other dogs here so we think a home with another younger dog and a fenced in yard would be best for STEVIE. We do not like the electric fences cause they keep your dog in but not other dogs out and dachshunds are very protective of there homes and that is how they could get seriously hurt. If not fence our dogs MUST BE ON A LEASH AT ALL TIMES. If you are looking for that wonderful young member to add to your family this is the boy for you. Please make his dream come true of a family of his own you won't be sorry.
Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
