BIO:
Hello, my name is Gus the 3rd, not sure what that is all about. I'd like to tell you a little about myself. I am a happy camper now having a safe and loving home. My foster mom Celeste loves me, and cares for me. You see I came from Alabama. The people didn't want us anymore and basically had thrown us outside. Where we lived almost all the time. I'm so fortunate for the person who contacted AADR to take us. I was at the halfway house for about 2 weeks and then traveled up to Lancaster PA on February28th. Long ride, but well worth it.
See my Foster home is very good to me. They have 3 dachshunds, we tear around, nap, tear around, go outside, and nap. When foster mom makes the bed, I jump up, only to help, at least I thought I was. When she leaves the room, I burrow under the pillows and mess it all up.
As much as I love it here, I need to find my own home. I am looking for a home that is loving, caring and wants to make me another family member, not just a pet. I don't ever want to be put out again as though I am nothing. So if you'd like to adopt a handsome, full energy, cuddle bug, give my foster mom a shout, she will be more than happy to talk with you. Thank you for the interest and reading about me!

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
