Tippy is a wonderful little dog! He loves to cuddle on your lap at night. He is crate trained and potty trained. He gets along with male and female dogs. We don't know about cats because we don't have any. He is currently being tested for a previous neutering, if it shows he is not neutered, he will be, by the time you adopt him. He loves to fall asleep cradled in your arms like a baby as you rub his chest. Tippy has pattern baldness behind his ears and on his belly. He is reserved and shy when he first meets you, but warms up fast if you talk to him and make a fuss over him. He like to go outside to do his business but then come in and be a couch potato or your companion. Tippy originally came from Alabama but was transported to Florida to foster. He is current on all of his shots and heartworm and flea preventative. He eats very well and will sit in your lap and give you kiss after kiss! He walks very well on a leash. He even goes out in the rain! Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Good with Dogs
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
